The Role of AI in Security- Brent Boekestein

The transformation in the security and safety industry is moving organizations from a reactive to a proactive stance to ensure the safety of people where they live, work and learn. The commercial real estate industry is quickly adopting new technologies to increase situational awareness and identify actionable insights to keep their people and property secure.

Over 1,000 forward thinking leaders in the commercial real estate industry convened at the Salt Palace Convention Center in Salt Lake City, Utah from June 22-25 for the 2019 Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) International Expo. The event showcased the latest innovative products and services designed to make buildings run more efficiently, effectively, and mitigate risks. Vintra was honored to be invited to this event two years in a row to present our FulcrumAI technology; an AI-powered video analytics solution that transforms any pre-recorded or live video into actionable, trusted and tailored intelligence. Our CEO and co-founder, Brent Boekestein, spoke during one of the Technology & Innovation Tracks and presented, ‘A brain for your cameras’ eyes.’[1]  The session addressed some key concerns around security & safety facing building owners and property managers:

  • How to maintain security & safety for tenants, workers and buildings
  • How to attract and retain tenants if buildings have security & safety concerns
  • How to increase security & safety compliance with a comprehensive video analytics solution
  • Potential liabilities for inadequate surveillance and security programs
  • How to manage budgets effectively and mitigate security & safety risks

During the session we polled the audience and learned about their top security & safety risks. Thirty-nine percent of Property Managers and Building Owners are most concerned about risks to human life (27% personal injuries and 12% workplace violence). This was followed by unauthorized access at 24%, which was expected given the need for this audience to monitor lobbies, elevators, and parking garages.[2] Are these your top two security and safety risks?

The audience had security & safety top of mind. Sixteen percent of respondents have already upgraded their programs and 68% have plans to make updates, whereas only 16% of respondents do not have any plans.

When do you plan to upgrade your security and safety program_

Vintra is on a mission to address CRE safety and security concerns head-on. Our video analytics solution, FulcrumAI, augments existing video surveillance systems and allows users to proactively address areas of concern. By leveraging a robust rules engine to address specific use cases and mitigate financial risks, users can address unauthorized access by using a smart intrusion feature that allows them to search for and set alarms on a growing list of descriptive attributes within specific camera zones of interest, empowering CRE security operators with real-time situational awareness.

Vintra’s AI-powered video analytics solution can be leveraged in two ways: as a tool that monitors live video feeds to produce actionable alerts, and as a way to quickly analyze footage after the fact for investigative purposes. Are you ready to embrace the future of security and safety in CRE?
